International Office of Universitas Negeri Semarang (IO-UNNES) officially opens the International Community Engagement Program (ICEP) on Monday (14/8) at Rector’s Meeting Room, UNNES H Building. This opening ceremony invites the Rector of UNNES, Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum, along with other officials.
In his opening speech, Prof Fathur Rokhman explained that UNNES is a university which vision is to become university of conservation with international reputation. Then, he said that UNNES is a world class university which always be ready to welcome international students to learn about Indonesian cultures and environmental conservation.
In the end of his speech, Prof Fathur told ICEP participants to enjoy the city of Semarang by trying local culinary or visiting the recreation place. It is hoped that they can go back to their country with a message saying that Indonesia is a beautiful country with friendly citizens.
Regarding this program, ICEP is a program funded by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education from the Proposal ‘Bantuan Penguatan Kelembagaan Kantor Urusan Internasional (PKKUI)’ or proposal for supporting international office. This program will be held in 11 days starting from 14 to 25 August 2017.
There are 10 participants from 2 universities joining this event: Sarawut Buasa, Nitchaya Namthong, Achiraya Korhong, and Wichapohn Suppajindakorn from Kasertsart University, Thailand; and Nur Shakira binti Mohd Mostajab, Nur Amalina binti Muhammad Fadlullah NG, Hairie Amrie bin Amran, Iqbal Amzar bin Bukhory, Nur Farhah Syahirah binti Hamdan, and Noor Husnina binti Noor Azam from Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia.
These ten students will have series of activities, focusing on making biodiesel from rubber seeds, skeleton leaf arts, and introduction to Indonesia’s culture.
