Rector of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum, officially opens three international programs on Tuesday (5/9) in Rector Room, Sekaran Campus, Gunungpati. There were also present the Head of Education and Profession Development Department Dr Abdurrahman, M.Pd, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering Dr Nur Qudus, M.T, the Expert Staff for Rector on International Collaboration Dr. Ratna Dewi Kusumaningtyas, M.T, the Head of International Office UNNES Intan Permata Hapsari, M.Pd, along with the official staffs.
In his opening speech, Prof Fathur explained that UNNES is a conservation university in the effort to become a world class university. Therefore, UNNES always opens the opportunities for international students to study Indonesian language and culture or to become students in UNNES. The existence of these international programs is aimed to improve the reputation of UNNES in regional or international level.
Prof Fathur added that UNNES will provide the service for international students studying or joining international programs in UNNES. He stated that the students should enjoy the program they join in.
Besides, if there is a chance, Prof Fathur suggested the students to walk around the city to the life of Semarang and directly observe the culture of Indonesia. Thus, if they come back to their countries, they can tell their families and friends that Indonesia is a peaceful and beautiful country.
For the information, the programs which have been officially started are joint summer program U-Conservation Learning from the grant of PKKUI, Darmasiswa, and international teaching internship.
Joint summer program U-Conservation Learning and Darmasiswa are the programs held by International Office of UNNES. The participants of the programs will get a chance to study with UNNES students and learn Indonesian language and culture.
The participants of joint summer course are Patrick Berndt Pedersen, Mads Mathias Kjeldsen, and Mia Hausgaard Yde from VIA University College, Denmark. Meanwhile, the participants for Darmasiswa 2017/2018 are In-in Pioquinto Jal (Philippines), Marta Beata Kupsch (Poland), Marta Monika Wiegel, Arkadiusz Jan Jodlowksi, and Barbora Skombarova (Slovak Republic).
In other side, international teaching internship is a teaching practice program for international students to partners schools of UNNES held by Education and Profession Development Department of UNNES. For this year, this program will be held from 6th September – 26th October 2017, and it will be participated by 10 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Malaysia to 3 schools in Semarang.
The participants from international teaching internship are Mohammad Aidil Afifi bin Yusri, Nur Fatin Nadzirah binti Mohd Nasli, Nur Asilah binti Abdul Karim, and Ain Atifah binti Hamdan for MAN 1 Semarang, Patrick Jelian Anak Lanchang Haslinda binti Basri, and Wan Nor Aida binti Wan Berahim for SMKN 7 Semarang, as well as Nahdatul Emma binti Ahmad Murad and Norsyuhada binti Mohd Redzuan for PAUD Lab School UNNES.
