Oki Sadma, a bachelor student majoring Accounting at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has been chosen as Indonesian delegate for ASEAN Youth Summit (AYS) 2017 along with 150 youth from ASEAN countries.
Carrying “Strength in Diversity, Building One ASEAN Community” as its main theme, AYS 2017 was held in Manila, The Philippine for five days since 23-27 April 2017. This conference was attended by youth from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, The Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia.
This conference was designed to bring the youth from ASEAN countries with its purpose to build a better sense of understanding ASEAN. It was also a platform for ASEAN youth to discuss current issues related to national security, politic, economy, and socio-culture. Moreover, the conference was followed by several activities such as coaching session, networking session, cultural night and excursion to Manila.
Oki explained that this conference has been very beneficial for all the participants. “It helped us enrich knowledge about ASEAN and Youth as well as strengthen the relation considering the fact that we are now entering the ASEAN Economic Community”, he stated. He personally hoped that there will be more events that give more opportunity for youth to develop their potentials.
