Unnes to hold its first IUP DEE talk

International Undergraduate Program (IUP) Department Economics Education (DEE) Faculty of Economics, Semarang State University (Unnes) has successfully held its very first ”The 1st IUPTalks’’, on Wednesday (8/3). The event itself was inviting the Head of Unnes’ International Office, Intan Permata Hapsari, Chairman of IUP-DEE, Sandy Arief, and two representatives from GREAT International Volunteer Service Activist, Kathrin Delius and Amelia Dita Tifani.

The event was attended by approximately 200 participants and divided into two session. On the first session, Intan Permata Hapsari, the Head of Unnes’s International Office stated that the International Office will be the platform on helping both studenst and lecturers of Unnes to take part on international programs.

Sandy Arief, the chairman of IUPDEE delivered a topic about the rapid growth of technology and what students should do to keep up with it. “Students should be skilled in the field of technology as well as be able to master more foreign languages and shall not be afraid of taking risks and challenges.” He later added.

On the second session, Amelia Dita Tifani from GREAT Indonesia was given the chance to share her volunteer experience in six countries. Her partner, Kathrin Delius, also shared her personal thoughts when she volunteered in Indonesia.

“I had to look up some videos on how to use the Indonesian toilet. It’s funny but it was actually the best part of being a volunteer. You experience everything by yourself and you will get more than just knowledge and experience but you will also get new friends from other countries,” said Kathrin.
